The Material Analyst makes sure every piece of material that comes into the shop is the right material, properly documented, and traceable to the job it goes on, for both ASME pressure parts and structural steel. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position works closely with Purchasing, Quality Control, and Production to keep receiving current, MTRs reviewed and filed, and work orders ready to pass inspection and ship on time.

Essential Duties:

  • Document over, short, and damaged (OS&D) shipments and notify Purchasing and Production
  • Review MTRs and certificates of conformance against the PO, drawing, and applicable codes (ASME II and VIII, ASTM, AWS D1.1), verifying grade, size, and heat number
  • File MTRs by work order and work down the MTR backlog while keeping current receiving caught up daily
  • Track shortages by PO, vendor, ETA, and owner, and follow up with vendors on missing material, MTRs, and certifications until closed
  • Check BOMs and cut lists against stock and open POs one to two weeks ahead of production, and track remnants by heat number
  • Verify databooks for upcoming shipments are complete, with every MTR present and matched
  • Keep the ERP system, MTR tracker, and receiving log accurate, with no duplicates, blanks, or missing counts
  • Use company-approved AI tools to pull data from MTRs, compare MTRs to POs, check logs for errors, and draft vendor follow-ups and reports, verifying all output against the source documents
  • Prepare daily reports on MTRs processed, backlog remaining, receiving status, and open issues
  • Perform cycle counts and support month-end backlog, receiving, and shortage reporting
  • Follow all safety policies, wear required PPE, and report all incidents immediately; stop work when a job cannot be done safely
  • Other duties as assigned

U.S. Equal Opportunity Employment Information (Completion is voluntary)

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

You are being given the opportunity to provide the following information in order to help us comply with federal and state Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action record keeping, reporting, and other legal requirements.

Completion of the form is entirely voluntary. Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 4/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
