Hyndman Area Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to provide clinical care to our patient population.
This position may need to see patients in our Hyndman location as needed.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to the patient’s age-specific needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
- Assists with the provision of surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the principles and practice of preventive medicine.
- Knowledge of the state-federal laws pertaining to medicine and to HHS-HRSA regulations of community health centers.
- Ability to work independently and make appropriate clinical decisions reflecting professional confidence and integrity.
- Skill in communicating effectively with patients and their families; must be culturally sensitive.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, patients and the general public.
- Commitment to HAHC mission, vision, and values.
- Computer efficiency and understanding of Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
- Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Minimum of 5 years OR clinical perioperative experience. 2 years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred.
Licenses or Certifications Required:
- License to practice medicine in the State of Pennsylvania
- DEA Certificate
- CPR/AED Certification
