SCHEDULE: Rotating Shifts | Week days  Weekends | Holidays

*Non-traditional schedule. Responsible for a flexible schedule that includes weekends, some evenings, peak-hour coverage, and park sponsored events. Schedule is adaptable to meet the dynamic needs of the park.

JOB PROFILE: The Park Services Assistant Manager is a hospitality-forward, hands-on operations leader who supports the Park Services Manager in coordinating daily park operations, staff coverage, guest experience, safety standards, and team communication. The Assistant Manager provides active park leadership during peak periods, events, and operational gaps; reinforces procedures and service expectations; and helps Park Services staff deliver consistent, safe, and welcoming service across park amenities, parking, programs, rentals, volunteer activity, field trips, and special events. In the Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager may serve as the acting manager for assigned operational matters within established policies and escalation procedures.

 CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Daily Operations Support: Support smooth daily operations of park facilities, amenities, and guest-facing areas. Conduct operational checks, monitor cleanliness and functionality, and coordinate routine follow-up with the Park Services Manager or appropriate maintenance support.
• Shift Leadership and Coverage: Provide visible, on-the-ground leadership during assigned shifts, peak hours, events, weekends, holidays, and coverage gaps. Confirm that opening, closing, cleaning, parking, guest-service, and event-support tasks are assigned and completed.
• Staff Guidance and Coaching: Support onboarding and day-to-day training; reinforce procedures, hospitality expectations, and safety practices; provide timely coaching; and communicate staff performance or conduct concerns to the Park Services Manager.
• Scheduling Support: Assist with staff schedules, shift changes, call-outs, coverage needs, and schedule communication. Help align staffing with park visitation, programs, rentals, parking, volunteer activity, field trips, special events, and seasonal priorities.
• Guest Experience and Hospitality: Model a welcoming, service-oriented approach. Anticipate visitor needs, respond to guest questions or concerns, and help adjust assignments or operations to support visitor flow and satisfaction.
• Communication and Coordination: Maintain clear shift handoffs and timely communication with Park Services staff, office teams, and operations teams. Escalate incidents, safety concerns, facility needs, staffing issues, and urgent park needs to the appropriate manager.

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
 
• Team lead, supervisory, hospitality, operations, recreation, service-industry, or outdoor-operations experience preferred. 
• Experience supporting staff schedules, coordinating shift coverage, or using scheduling and communication software. 
• Strong communication, multitasking, coaching, conflict-resolution, organization, and problem-solving skills. 
• Ability to work independently, follow established escalation procedures, and remain calm while priorities change. 
• Comfort working outdoors in changing weather and adapting to shifting park conditions. 
• Familiarity with Microsoft applications and basic workplace technology. 
• First Aid/CPR training and OSHA 10 certification, or willingness to obtain. 
• Ability to troubleshoot minor operational or facilities issues and coordinate appropriate follow-up 
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
