Job Title: Early Education Van Driver 
FLSA Status: Part-time, Non-exempt, 20 hrs/week
Shift*: Monday – Friday, 7:15AM-9:15AM and 1:45PM-3:45PM
Work Week:  Monday – Friday 
Supervisor: Early Education Director
Location: Pottstown, PA
 
*Schedule Note:
This position operates on a split-shift schedule to accommodate peak transportation and facility needs. While the total commitment is 20 hours per week, daily start and end times may fluctuate slightly based on seasonal programming or transit demands.
 
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
YWCA Tri-County Area is seeking a dedicated Van Driver professional to join the STARS 4 Early Education Center team in Pottstown. This multifaceted role is essential to our daily operations, serving as a vital link between our community and our high-quality educational programming by ensuring the safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation of children and passengers. As a key representative of our mission, you will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and legal compliance, ensuring that every journey is conducted with the utmost care. We are looking for a vigilant, dependable individual who understands that this role is more than just a commute—it is about providing a secure and supportive environment that allows our students to thrive from the moment they begin their day.
 
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (Includes, But Not Limited to):
  • Provide reliable transportation for Early Education students and adult passengers to and from local schools, field trips, camp, and YW3CA events.
  • Maintain active supervision of children during transit, ensuring a safe and respectful environment using Conscious Discipline skills and structures.
  • Manage the daily upkeep of the organization’s van, including fueling, cleaning the interior and exterior, and the frequent installation and removal of car seats.
  • Strictly adhere to all Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) safety regulations and maintain accurate mileage and safety reports as required by YW3CA.
  • Uphold the YW3CA mission by treating all children, staff, and community members with dignity and professional integrity.
  • Complete reports necessary as required by the YW3CA.
  • Attend required staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

  • Ability to work with EEC staff, teachers, family members in the community and other volunteers.
  • Understanding of diverse family dynamics and cultural differences with the ability to work with and empower families. 
  • Understanding of YWCA mission, goals, and objectives and ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.
  • Knowledge of and sensitive to the issues facing the community served and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by compassionate, courteous, cordial, cooperative, and professional interaction with diverse groups of co-workers, families, and members of the community.
  • Ability to work independently with a high level of energy and contribute as part of a larger team.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • The ability to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls, talk to and hear voices at many levels. 
  • The ability to kneel, bend, squat or crawl and stand for periods of time in both indoor and outdoor environments.
  • A specific vision ability including the ability to see up close and up to a certain distance, to see colors, have peripheral vision and depth perception. 
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds. 
  • May require working non-traditional hours based on operational needs. 
Education & Experience:
  • Must possess high school diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of verifiable experience working directly with children.
  • Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Must be willing to submit to background checks in accordance with local law and regulations.
  • Current Health Assessment and TB test.
  • Strong desire for continued growth and learning.
  • Knowledge of Keystone STARS and Conscious Discipline principles preferred.
  • CDL with bus certification preferred. 
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
