Wallace County Family Practice is seeking a detail-oriented and friendly Registration Clerk to join our clinic team. The Registration Clerk is responsible for welcoming patients, collecting and verifying personal and insurance information, and ensuring accurate data entry into the system. This role is essential in creating a positive first impression and maintaining efficient patient flow.

This position is the first point of contact for patients and families visiting and/or calling WCFP, setting the tone for their experience and our reputation.  It is the vital first step of the revenue cycle by scheduling and registering patients accurately and efficiently to ensure that patient accounts can be coded and billed properly in a timely fashion. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain and update clinic schedules; including timely schedule changes as directed by supervisor or providers.
  • Register patients for medical appointments based on visit type.
  • Greet and direct patients and visitors. 
  • Provide patient education as appropriate. 
  • Provide phone coverage and respond according to the needs of the caller. 
  • Obtain necessary patient consents and documents based on appt type.
  • Collect copayments and other payments at the time of service.
  • Ensure patient registration records are kept up to date.
  • Medical records: review, evaluate, and coordinate the exchange of appropriate health information between GCHS, insurance companies, prior authorization personnel, and referral entities.
  • Screen patients for eligible services.
  • Provide excellent customer service: assisting patients with questions, scheduling needs, and communicating with medical assistants, providers, and referral specialists to meet patient requests.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour
