JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing continuity and coordination of nursing activities within the Imaging department. This position is accountable for providing expertise for all ages from neonatal/newborn to adults. The patient acuity ranges from stable outpatients to critically ill patients.

QUALIFICATIONS
Current LPN license.
Current PALS and ACLS certification
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE
Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, bodily fluids, respiratory hazards, chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. In the absence of an on-site RN within the department, the LPN will collaborate with and escalate clinical concerns to the supervising RN or provider to ensure appropriate assessment, care planning, and discharge determination.
2. Obtain vital signs and observes patient health status before, during and after imaging procedures.
3. Obtain peripheral intravenous access (IV).
- Administer non-IV medications as per physician orders.
- Review examination orders for pertinent clinical information, considers the needs of patient and requirements for the exam in conjunction with department policy and procedures.
6. Complete necessary health questionnaire and review medical history.
7. Prepare and support patients for imaging procedures and explain the process.
8. Perform hand-off communication and collaborate with Radiology Technologist for each patient.
9. Monitor foley catheter as needed.
10. Performs specimen collection for laboratory testing as required by department policy and procedures. To include documentation of test results with notification to physician of any critical results.
11. Address patient discomfort and anxiety during imaging procedures.
12. Patient monitoring and recognition of emergent conditions to include medication reactions.
13. Maintain accurate, detailed reports and patient records.
14. Collaborate with Radiology Technologist in completion of discharge summary and patient instructions.
15. Provide and educate patients and their families about post-procedure care.
16. Maintains current working knowledge of MRI safety and radiation safety.
17. Demonstrates the ability to perform all necessary computer operations to include PACS system.
18. Maintains confidentiality of all patient and facility related information.
- Comply with facility Standards of Behavior and complete all required education assignments within the designated timeline.
