Job Description:
Colby Community College (CCC) invites applications for a full-time Head Men’s Basketball Coach to lead and manage its National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I program. CCC is a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference and is committed to excellence in student success, athletic performance, and community engagement.

The salary range for this position is $43,200 - $54,150 (salary will vary depending upon educational credential and experience).

The Head Men’s Basketball Coach provides leadership for all aspects of the men’s basketball program, including recruiting, coaching, student-athlete development, program administration, and compliance with institutional, conference, and NJCAA regulations. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, integrity, and a commitment to fostering academic and athletic excellence while supporting the mission of a rural community college

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required. 
  • Master's Degree strongly preferred.  
  • Post-secondary coaching experience required.
  • Head Coaching experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Understanding of the community college mission and rural service environment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, organization, and administration for all aspects of the NJCAA Division I men’s basketball program.
  • Recruit and retain high-character, qualified student-athletes who demonstrate academic and athletic potential.
  • Plan and conduct practices, competitions, and team activities that promote skill development and sportsmanship.
  • Schedule games and coordinate team travel arrangements.
  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and promote academic success and retention.
  • Prepare and manage program budgets in accordance with institutional policies.
  • Ensure compliance with NJCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and support staff, as applicable.
  • Foster positive relationships with campus departments, alumni, and community stakeholders.
  • Promote the Men’s Basketball program through community engagement, volunteer work, and outreach.
  • Support the mission, vision, and strategic goals of Colby Community College.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or designee.
  • Compete with a full roster, where all LOIs are filled.
  • Adhere to the Kansas required number of student-athletes.
