Position Overview
The Dorm Pastor/Residence Hall Director is responsible for ensuring the spiritual growth and pastoral care of on-campus students enrolled at the University.  They are Spirit-filled role models who uphold the authority of Scripture, Arminian and Pentecostal theology, and Assemblies of God Statement of Fundamental Truths. The position serves under the auspices of the Residence Life Department and reports directly to the Dean of Students.  Benefits include housing and meal plan.
 
Major Responsibilities
  • Serve as spiritual leaders in their respective residence hall.
  • Provide pastoral counseling, support, and care to students within their respective residence hall.  
  • Develop interpersonal relationships and a sense of community among dorm residents.
  • Serve as spiritual mentor and life coach for dorm residents. 
  • Plan and employ weekly dorm devotions/services that include worship, prayer, and biblical teaching/preaching.
  • Promote an environment in which students can develop Christian character and leadership skills. 
  • Reside in their respective residence hall. 
  • Recruit, train, and mentor resident assistants to provide pastoral ministry to dorm residents. 
  • Follow and enforce University policies as outlined in the Student Handbook.
  • Assist in the safety and security of the residence hall.
  • Report potential Title IX incidents to Director of Human Resources or Title IX Coordinator.  
  • Be willing to fulfill summer duties as needed. 
  • Attend University chapel services on a regular basis.
  • Assist in chapel supervision and enforcement of the Chapel Code of Conduct.
 
 
Qualifications
  • Be Spirit-filled as demonstrated in Acts 2.
  • Maintain and model spiritual maturity and high moral/ethical standards.
  • Possess a caring and pastoral heart and strong interpersonal relational skills.
  • Hold an earned undergraduate degree (counseling or biblical studies preferred).
  • Have previous, successful ministry experience.
  • Possess strong organizational and management skills.
  • Understand academic, spiritual, and social aspects of the University. 
  • Maintain active membership in an Assemblies of God church and attend on a regular basis.
