GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works in coordination with the overall goals and objectives of First Naples.
- Assists the Preschool Ministry Director to work toward excellence in all areas of the ministry.
SPECIFIC LIST OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning, implementing, and leading preschool-aged Sunday classes.
- Assisting in creating lesson plans/schedules for preschool classes incorporating themes, songs, crafts, and activities in correlation with the Bible Story for that week.
- Teach preschool Sunday School classes, leading an interactive large group bible story, songs, review, and game.
- Assist in planning and executing VBS for grades PreK3-Kindergarten-aged children.
- Support new preschool volunteers during their recruitment, training, and ongoing development.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing the fall curriculum for Tuesday mornings, Awana, and Sundays, managing supplies needed for classrooms, and participating in setting up a safe and nurturing classroom environment.
- Actively observe preschool classes to identify areas for improvement, including class sizes, volunteer needs, and materials needed.
- Engage with new families, learn to register a new family, and assist with checking in and out of a child.
- Participate in preschool summer events.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Christian Ministry, or a related field. Experience working with children in a church, school, or childcare setting is preferred. Familiarity with lesson planning, classroom management, or volunteer coordination is a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
The individual must have strong communication skills to effectively engage with children, parents, volunteers, and staff. They should be able to clearly explain Bible stories, lead interactive activities, and provide instructions both verbally and in writing. The ability to build positive relationships and warmly welcome new families is essential.
COMPUTER AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Basic computer skills are required, including proficiency with word processing, email, and online check-in systems. Experience with creating simple schedules, lesson plans, and supply lists using spreadsheets is helpful. Basic math skills are necessary for managing classroom supplies and tracking attendance.
REASONING ABILITY
The individual must be able to plan and lead engaging preschool activities, adjust lessons to fit class needs, and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. They should be flexible, creative, and able to identify areas for improvement, such as volunteer support or classroom materials.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- While performing the duties of this job, the individual will be actively engaging with preschool-aged children - sitting on the floor, leading group activities, and moving throughout classrooms. They must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds for classroom setup and supply management. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to support those with disabilities.
