Director of Finance

The Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Specialist II will be responsible for data entry, accuracy of support documents, functions as well as other assigned duties and responsibilities to the Finance Department.
- Sort and distribute incoming mail to the department.
- Responsible for set up of vendor electronic funds transfer.
- Maintain, organize, code, draft of monthly routine operational transactions for the tribal government.
- Compare invoices with source documents ensuring accuracy and financial compliance to include calculations and coding.
- Promptly respond to incoming phone calls, email messages, and inquiries from employees and customers, always displaying a proactive approach to customer service and problem resolution. Exhibit a professional level of interaction with all levels of management and non-management.
- Data entry, filing, records maintenance, and report preparation to support finance processes.
- Annually review and prepare 1099 along with the Annual Summary & Transmittal for Internal Revenue Service.
- Responsible for receipting accounts receivables, ensuring proper allocation.
- Assist in the preparation of journal entries for accounts receivables, and depositing of funds.
- Will participate in the internal/external audits of the tribe.
- Will assist the Finance staff in safeguarding, organizing, maintenance, and security of financial records and reports.
- Optional staff fill-in for procurement and inventory control.
- Participate in orientation, training and other personal and professional development related to assigned responsibilities.
- Will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- One to three years successful experience in office/data entry duties and responsibilities is required.
- Associate degree in accounting and/or business is required.
- Technology skills, competencies and proficiencies with Excel, Word and various accounting software, is desired.
- A valid NC Driver’s License is required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is subject to a criminal history background check, and a Motor Vehicle check. Candidates must successfully pass all required background checks in order to qualify for this position.
