Summary
Delta Oaks Group is seeking a GIS Specialist to support our telecommunications, fiber/linear route (corridor) and infrastructure projects by producing accurate, decision-ready geospatial deliverables, including route-based design and permit mapping (e.g., Design Fiber/As-Fiber style deliverables). The successful candidate will perform spatial data creation and analysis, develop web maps and dashboards, support permit/submittal mapping, and maintain clear metadata and documentation standards. Ideal applicants will be fluent in ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online workflows and comfortable leveraging Python to streamline repeatable GIS tasks and improve data quality, while communicating GIS concepts effectively to non-GIS users.

Positional Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of GIS data management, cartographic standards, and geospatial analysis workflows, and will serve as a GIS resource for internal teams and project stakeholders. Excellent communication skills are essential, as the role involves coordinating with project managers, engineers, environmental staff, and external partners to produce consistent, high-quality geospatial products.

  • Develop and maintain linear route/corridor GIS datasets to support fiber planning, design, and permitting, including centerline/alignment features, route segmentation, and jurisdictional overlays.
  • Produce route exhibits and permit-ready mapping for linear infrastructure (e.g., DF/AF-style permit designs), ensuring accuracy and compliance with local requirements.
  • Create route-based deliverables such as before/after prints, construction callouts, address lists, and BOM-style reports (or comparable route quantity/asset summaries) to support engineering and construction.
  • Support telecom/fiber network route design by drafting and updating linear network features (e.g., strands/cables) and coordinating iterative design updates with engineering and drafting teams.
  • Perform QA/QC on linear route deliverables by validating spatial alignment, attribute consistency, and completeness of route documentation supporting project approvals
  • Develop, edit, and manage geospatial datasets to support project planning, design, and permitting documentation.
  • Create high-quality maps, figures, and visualizations to support decision-making, internal reporting, and client deliverables.
  • Support fiber/telecom projects by preparing mapping inputs and exhibits for design and permitting packages (e.g., design vs. as-built mapping concepts, alignment/corridor exhibits, parcel overlays, and jurisdictional constraints).
  • Perform spatial analysis and data integration (e.g., boundaries, utility features, constraints screening, and data QA/QC) to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency across deliverables.
  • Build and maintain clear metadata documentation and standardized GIS data organization to improve accessibility and long-term usability.
  • Develop and maintain ArcGIS Online content, including web maps and lightweight applications (e.g., dashboards/instant apps/experience builder solutions) for internal and client-facing project tracking where appropriate.
  • Utilize scripting/automation (Python preferred) to streamline repetitive GIS workflows, improve data QA, and accelerate production.
  • Collaborate with engineers, drafters, and project managers to ensure geospatial deliverables align with design intent and project requirements; help streamline workflows and reduce rework.
  • Communicate GIS concepts and outputs clearly to non-GIS stakeholders and provide practical guidance on data use and limitations.
  • Support internal QA/QC by reviewing GIS outputs and associated documentation for accuracy, cartographic quality, and consistency with company standards.
Due to the nature and limited timelines of most projects, the selected individual should be willing and capable of exhibiting the work ethic and social ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment where communication with co-workers and strategic partners is paramount.

Computer Software Requirements
  • Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • Adobe Acrobat
  • ArcGIS Pro/ArcGIS Online
  • Google Earth
  • Local Jurisdiction GIS systems
Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • GIS experience producing spatial analysis and cartographic deliverables for infrastructure, telecom/fiber, utilities, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and geospatial data editing/management, including data QA/QC and deliverable production.
  • Experience developing and maintaining metadata documentation and organized GIS databases/datasets.
  • Ability to develop mapping and GIS datasets that support permitting/submittal documentation and project approvals.
  • Working knowledge of GIS automation or scripting (Python preferred) and the ability to apply it to GIS workflow improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate GIS outputs and concepts to non-GIS stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain high-quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

You are being given the opportunity to provide the following information in order to help us comply with federal and state Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action record keeping, reporting, and other legal requirements.

Completion of the form is entirely voluntary. Whatever your decision, it will not be considered in the hiring process or thereafter. Any information that you do provide will be recorded and maintained in a confidential file.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.
