Job Title: PMD - Repair Tech I EEO Classification: Operatives
Department: Parachute Maintenance FSLA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports to: PMD Team Leader
Position Summary: Responsible for disassembling sections of a canopy and sewing patches on skins.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintains good working knowledge of, and follows all related SOP’s and Work Instructions.
- Threads needles, removes and replaces bobbins, adjusts thread tensions and stitches per inch, and keeps machine clean and oiled.
- Must understand and follow Performance Designs standards on seam allowances, edge distances, seam starts, and acceptable fold backs.
- Performs repairs of all sizes, and surface patches, oversews, and I-beam seams.
- Maintains line placement while working on canopies and performs self-inspection of work.
- Works independently but supervision is available as needed.
- Performs other inherent duties related to, but not limited to the above.
Education and Experience Requirements
· High School diploma or GED Equivalent required.
· Previous sewing experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to read, understand and follow written Standard Operating Procedure Specifications that are written in the English language.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must be able to use measuring devices.
Physical Requirements
- Finger, hand and arm dexterity crucial for manipulating and sewing of canopy parts.
- Substantial repetitive motion movements of the wrists, hands, and or fingers required
- Visual acuity (with or without corrective lenses) necessary for self inspections
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must have legible handwriting to complete required documentation.
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
- Bending and stooping may be required when picking up canopy and placing on workstation.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour
