Herring Bank is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Mortgage Loan Assistant to support our growing mortgage team. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely processing of loan files and providing exceptional customer service to our clients. You’ll assist mortgage originators, track documents, manage appraisals, and help maintain strong relationships with our valued customers.
- Provide administrative support to the Mortgage Department, including managing mail flow, file organization, and document tracking
- Monitor and manage the appraisal desk, ensuring timely assignments and payments
- Answer incoming mortgage calls and route inquiries appropriately
- Assist with in-house loans, GL and Credit/Debit Tickets, and funding document delivery
- Track and upload loan-related documents, ensuring all trailing documents are received
- Support loan originators during peak times by gathering verification items and preparing files for document preparation
- Help coordinate wire submissions and construction draws as needed
- Maintain strong communication with customers and internal departments to ensure an excellent experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 5+ years of residential mortgage loan operations (processing and closing) experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organization, communication, and customer service skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
- Must pass a background and credit check
- Preferred: Experience with CSI/Meridian, Encompass, ONBASE, or similar systems
