Position Summary:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and comfort of Archbold Biological Station’s residential and communal facilities, including cottages, dormitories, offices, lounges, and meeting rooms. This role supports a welcoming and hygienic environment for researchers, interns, staff, and guests, and works closely with the Custodian to ensure high standards across the Station.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean and prepare guest cottages and dorm rooms: change linens, dust, vacuum, and sanitize bathrooms and kitchens.
- Maintain cleanliness of shared spaces such as lounges, meeting rooms, and laundry facilities.
- Clean offices, including dusting, vacuuming, emptying trash, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper products, and linens.
- Report maintenance issues or damage to the Facilities and/or Maintenance Manager.
- Assist with seasonal deep cleaning and turnover between groups or events.
- Support sustainability practices, including eco-friendly cleaning products and recycling.
- Collaborate with the Custodian to ensure seamless upkeep of all facilities.
- Other tasks assigned by Operations and/or Maintenance Manager
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous housekeeping or custodial experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform repetitive tasks.
- Respect for privacy and confidentiality of guests and staff.
Work Environment:
- Residential, office, and communal buildings within a biological research station.
- Interaction with a diverse community of scientists, students, and staff.
- Exposure to natural surroundings and occasional wildlife.
