The Lab Technician role is essential. They assist our Research and Development team in performing experiments and analysis on plant, soil, and other samples in our efforts to grow exceptional vegetables. This role includes data entry as well as lab maintenance.
While every day on the farm can look a little different, here are the main responsibilities this role will be expected to execute:
· Perform technical procedures, prepare solutions, prepare samples, and conduct experiments according to specific instructions/protocols.
· Set up supplies and equipment according to detailed specifications to perform analysis.
· May operate equipment according to complete specific procedures, and make light repairs if needed.
· May perform maintenance on lab equipment to spot problems and report issues to the lab supervisor.
· Set up test equipment in the lab to complete specific procedures.
· May perform complex chemical tests on materials and samples as requested or assigned.
· Record experimental data; collect, tabulate, and calculate data by instrument.
· Maintain data by diligently logging the data revealed by lab tests, by entering these into designated databases.
· Conduct data analysis by template
· Extract data for follow-up
· May perform inventory control, ordering, and recording of experiments, by keeping track of materials used and ordering new items as needed.
· Perform housekeeping tasks to keep laboratory and work areas clean and organized.
Preferred Skills
· Attention to detail – Laboratory technician needs to have strong attention to detail to follow specific testing protocols and adhere to rigid safety standards.
· Computer skills – Laboratory technicians also need to be able to create digital reports using software programs like Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Sheets and Google Docs
· Communication skills – Laboratory analysts use written and verbal communication skills to write reports and deliver their findings to the lab supervisor
· Time Management – Because they prioritize their testing workload and run multiple tests on numerous materials in a single day, these professionals need to be able to manage their tasks efficiently
· Preferred any experience with IC, ICP, HPLC
