Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting patient care in a fast-paced mental health setting. This position is responsible for clinical duties such as taking vitals, administering injections, performing blood draws, assisting providers with patient procedures, preparing treatment rooms, and ensuring accurate documentation in the EMR system. Ideal candidates are dependable, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering compassionate care to patients with mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and prepare them for examination, ensuring comfort and confidentiality.
- Obtain and document vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, and weight.
- Perform blood draws, prepare specimens for laboratory testing, and complete related documentation.
- Administer injections as ordered by the provider.
- Assist providers during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and stock exam rooms, ensuring all supplies and equipment are clean and ready for use.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record system.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of biohazard materials.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding instructions, follow-up care, and medication administration under provider direction.
- Assist with completing patient paperwork, including prior authorizations and documentation requests as directed by the provider.
- Monitor inventory of medical supplies and place orders as needed.
- Adhere to infection control policies, HIPAA regulations, and all safety protocols.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Medical Assistant Certification (Required).
- Phlebotomy skills and experience performing blood draws (Required).
- Competency administering injections.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency using electronic medical records (EMR) and basic computer applications.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize duties, and work in a high-volume clinical environment.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in a medical or behavioral health setting preferred.
- BLS/CPR Certification (Preferred).
Compensation and Benefits:
- PNS offers a competitive compensation package including; Medical, dental, vision, and paid time off.
- Hourly rate based on skill, experience and tenure of your profession.
Compensation: $23.50 per hour
