Job Title: Sixth Grade Science Teacher
Reports To: Middle School Principal
Time Status: Full-time
JOB SUMMARY
To serve as a sixth-grade Science teacher in fulfillment of GCA’s mission to Lead, Build, and Equip students. The sixth-grade Science teacher will report to the Middle School Principal. The primary duties of this position are to prepare lessons centered around a biblical worldview, create an engaging classroom environment, and maintain consistent lines of communication with administration, parents, and students.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Desirable candidates should have the following background or comparable experience:
· Advanced degree preferred
· High level of emotional intelligence
· Exceptional oral and written communication skills
· Experience integrating technology into the curriculum
· Ability to engage parents/guardians as partners in the student’s educational experience
· A history of continued growth and development as an educator
· A history of effective collaboration with colleagues

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following, but are not limited to:
· Give instructions to the students in the Science curricula area and as assigned by the Middle School Principal
· Design Science teaching material
· Create lessons centered around a biblical worldview
· Facilitate course discussions on social issues from a biblical lens while acknowledging various denominational differences
· Devise Science lesson plans that follow GCA’s Curriculum and Instruction Standards and Course Maps
· Ability to hold students to a clearly articulated standard of performance
· Experiment with different teaching methods
· Differentiate instruction for students with learning challenges
· Maintain a positive classroom environment that promotes safe learning
· Utilize a learning management system for instruction
· Maintain cordial relationships with the home, parent(s)/guardian(s) and community
· Keep parent(s)/guardian(s) fully informed of the child’s progress and hold conferences with parent(s)/guardian(s) when necessary
· Report to the appropriate authorities when one knows or reasonably suspects that a child’s health or welfare has been or appears to have been harmed as a result of abuse or neglect.
· Establish and maintain satisfactory, respectful working relationships within the school environment
· Perform other duties as assigned
