Overview:
The Financial Aid Service Specialist supports the Christian culture of Nelson by providing financial aid support at the front desk by greeting guests, answering incoming calls, responding to incoming email, answering a variety of student financial questions, processing incoming forms, troubleshooting student accounts and assisting with reports and other duties as assigned by the Senior Director of Financial Aid.
Major Responsibilities:
• Represent the Christian culture of the University to students, employees and guests
• Greet and answer questions from guests that enter the financial aid office
• Answer a high volume of phone calls and respond to student questions
• Answer incoming email that is sent to the generic financial aid email group
• Provide general application counseling and help with financial aid processing and awarding
• Send out daily correspondence regarding missing financial aid documents and award letters
• Evaluate incoming financial aid documents and distribute to the correct team member
Qualifications:
• Faith, service and lifestyle that meets University expectations (See IPM sections: “Statement of Core Values,” “Doctrinal Statement,” “Christian Standards,” “Lifestyle Standard.”)
• Ability to accurately and efficiently process financial aid applications
• Ability to serve students and their financial needs with courtesy
• Ability to protect the privacy of student records
• Willingness to learn multiple federal, state, institutional, and external aid program guidelines and procedures and comply with each
• Ability to work together with a team
• Good communication skills
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to remain calm, focused and friendly during stressful times of the school year
• Skilled in Microsoft Office
• Available to work overtime during peak times of the school year
