NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION

The Industrial Maintenance Instructor is responsible for the success of the total teaching/learning process within the assigned classroom, laboratory, shop, or other learning environment. Instruction is the primary position of employment at Clarendon College, because instruction is the College's primary function. The Instructor is supervised Welding/Industrial Maintenance Program Director, by the Dean for CTE, and by the Vice President of Academic Affairs, and has the primary responsibility in academic matters for the content, quality, and effectiveness of the curriculum and further has opportunity to participate in institutional governance and influence institutional policy and practice through the role of instructor with regular committee assignments. 
 
While the program is being built, the position will also be responsible for mechanical and electrical maintenance as needed at Pampa Center, to include diagnosis and repair of existing systems.

EXPERIENCE: 

·         Required: Experience relevant to Industrial Maintenance topical areas, prior teaching experience, and computer skills for web-based technical instruction packages 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 
 
1.       Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance at Pampa Center as needed, incorporating maintenance activities into the learning environment as appropriate. 
2.       Perform and carry out the teaching assignment in an effective and efficient manner. 
3.       Establish and maintain appropriate office hours. 
4.       Work on institutional standing and ad hoc committees, as assigned. 
5.       Work individually and collaboratively with others to recruit new students and work to retain current students. 
6.       Remain current in the teaching discipline through professional development activities; maintain familiarity with recent publications and journals in the teaching discipline; and, participate in local, state, or national professional societies and meetings where appropriate. 
7.       Support College activities and special events through attendance, and participation, including advising of a campus club(s), team, and/or other activities. 
8.       Assist in advising and registration, as assigned. 
9.       Participate in program area, division, and college faculty meetings; provide input on textbook adoption, program planning and evaluation, budgets, and the selection of supplies and equipment. 
10.   Use the funds of the institution allocated to the budget of the department or to a special project in effective and efficient manner. 
11.   Complete annual core curriculum assessment for each section of each course taught from the core curriculum and submits appropriate files and documentation to the program coordinator. 
12.   Comply with all College policies, rules, and regulations. 
13.   Take the lead in program development for industrial maintenance technical curriculum offerings. 
14.   Performs other duties as assigned by the Welding and Industrial Maintenance Program Director, by the Dean for Career and Technical Education, Vice President of Academic Affairs and/or President. 
 
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, frequently lift, carry, push, pull and maneuver tools and equipment as needed. 

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 12:30 to 9:00 PM.  Fridays, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. 

Work Environment: This position is located Pampa.  Instructional duties will be for night classes, Monday through Thursday. 

Travel Expectations: Some travel may be required for this position for recruiting and to work with local high schools and businesses. 

Salary: Determined by the experience and abilities of the successful candidate.
