ABOUT THE ROLE:
Position: Learning Coach
Position Summary: The Learning Coach plays a vital role in Elev8 Baltimore’s Out-of-School Time (OST) programs by creating safe, engaging, and structured learning environments for youth. This position combines direct student engagement with program facilitation, helping young people build academic, social, and emotional skills beyond the school day. As a core member of the program team, the Learning Coach sets the tone for student success by fostering strong relationships, encouraging active participation, and modeling Elev8 Baltimore’s organizational values. This is an opportunity for dynamic, motivated individuals to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Baltimore City youth.
Reports to: Extended Learning Coordinator
Seasonal Schedule (Timeframes subject to change; Daily hours vary by school site)
Fall: September through December (15-20 hours per week)
Winter/Spring: January through May (15-20 hours per week)
Job Classification: Part-time, Non-Exempt, Temporary
Status: Part-time
Compensation: $20.00 per hour
Responsibilities:
· Plan and facilitate academic enrichment activities for assigned students, focusing on skill-building, engagement, and support beyond the school day.
·Plan and conduct enrichment activities (recreational, arts, cultural, or developmental) for assigned student groups to promote holistic growth.
· Implement Youth Program Quality Intervention (YPQI) engagement strategies learned through provided training to strengthen student participation and outcomes.
· Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to create supportive, structured environments for students.
· Serve as a facilitator of after-school and summer program activities and special events, including chaperoning field trips.
· Assist with classroom setup and breakdown, organizing instructional materials and equipment as needed.
· Assist with distribution and cleanup of meals (snacks, dinner, and summer lunch).
· Complete required documentation, including attendance rosters and student progress notes.
·Attend all mandatory staff meetings, professional development sessions, and planning meetings to support program quality and staff growth.
·Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the program
Qualifications
High School diploma required.
• Actively enrolled in college/university or hold a bachelor’s degree.
•Able to lead and participate in group sports and recreation.
• Experience in developing group lesson plans or integrated learning activities.
• Must commit to working with youth from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
• Ability to motivate others and work as part of an intergenerational team.
• Strong appreciation and understanding of individual cultural history, and the willingness to be open and respectful of all cultures.
• Willingness to strive for excellence in all areas.
• Ability to think critically and analytically.
• Exhibit a positive attitude, model a mature and professional demeanor.
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to the ethics of good character, humility, and servant leadership.
• Excellent written and verbal skills.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of software.
• Authorization for a background check for criminal and child protective findings.
• Proof of complete vaccination must be presented by hire date.
