Position Title: Manager of Mortgage Processing & Servicing
Reports To: Director of Mortgage Lending
Status: Salary; Exempt
Position Summary: Responsibilities include directing mortgage loan processors and servicers and ensuring that the application review and lending process comply with company operational standards as well as federal and state regulations. To direct staff in the completion of preparation of mortgage loan disclosures and closing documents, lien perfection. Focus on ensuring data integrity and quality of loan information. To maintain exceptional customer relations, provide timely assistance and promote Bank products and services whenever possible. Provides advice and guidance to others engaged in loan activities to ensure that loans are properly processed and that adequate controls are maintained. Attend and support loan officer training. Works with the Compliance Officer to ensure regulatory compliance is in place. Works with the Chief Credit Officer to propose and project manage new systems, policies, and procedures. Managing the quality control of the various areas of Loan Servicing including customer service, escrow processing, and payoff statements.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties:
- Supervise, recruit, and train mortgage loan processing and servicing staff and make recommendations regarding personnel changes or restructuring.
- Maintain a high level of customer service through proactive communication with internal (loan officers) and external customers (title companies, appraisers, and vendors).
- Work in and lead a team environment in an effort to achieve overall bank goals and objectives.
- Oversees and works concurrently with processing and servicing staff to complete all aspects of the mortgage processing and servicing workflows in the bank.
- Responsible for loan documentation and pre-closing review processes, procedures and data integrity.
- Manage and understand collateral perfection processes such as lien entry, UCC and mortgage filings, title commitments, and final title policies.
- Monitor new compliance legislation and establish procedures that properly handle all elements of risk associated with mortgage lending in coordination with Compliance Officer and Director of Mortgage Production for dissemination to the lending staff.
- Administration, development, testing and maintenance of the LOS operating/processing platforms and associated interfaces.
- Develop workflows, reports, and dashboards that minimize manual processes and maximize automated systems.
- Design and implement policies and procedures to support the mortgage operating/processing systems, staff, and streamlining of processes.
- Develop and conduct training for all user groups to leverage the operating/processing platform’s capabilities and ensure user knowledge.
- Manage secondary market investor program including (but not limited to) servicing, remittance, reporting, rate locks, investor relations, secondary market product management and implementation.
- Manage vendor relationships and report any issues through appropriate ticketing systems, IT, or management.
- Understand Federal, State, Secondary Market, and Union State Bank rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
Supervisor Responsibilities: Supervises the Mortgage Loan Processors and Mortgage Servicing Specialist(s).
Education and Experience Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent required. Previous mortgage loan processing experience required; previous customer service experience required; previous loan servicing experience required; previous supervisory experience required. LaserPro and Encompass experience required. Experience with Fannie Mae DU, UCD & UCDP preferred. Valid Driver’s License is required. Understand Federal, State and Union State banking rules and regulations. Bank related courses strongly recommended.
