- Oversees and manages the company's procurement program and purchase order process devising and sourcing strategies.
- Establish strong relationships with vendors, facilitate communication, and work to ensure production and delivery targets are met.
- Negotiates and implements contracts, terms, and supply agreements to ensure all manufacturing goods are of the best quality, purchased at the most competitive rate and delivered on time.
- Lead the evaluation of suppliers and work to reduce vendor risk by developing scorecards and analyzing vendor performance.
- Direct efforts to improve supply chain efficiency, maintain product quality standards, and reduce costs.
- Develop and carry out strategies, policies, and procedures for the procurement of supplies for the entire organization.
- Manages, leads, and mentors a small dynamic team of purchasing professionals to achieve all financial goals and objectives and meet established service standards.
- Continually improves procurement methods, analyzes industry trends and develops best practices.
- Ensures supplier adherence to annual cost goals as well as improving pricing and accuracy of lead times and vendor response.
- Assesses supplier financial capability and managing procurement of purchased parts in support of cost reduction and product design projects.
- Participate in new product development across departments to identify and source new materials and suppliers.
- Determines method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
- Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
- Provide timely information on potential shortages or price variations that may have an impact on the operations and profitability of the organization.
- Reviews bid proposals and negotiate contracts within budgetary limitations and scope of authority.
- Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories.
- Discusses defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- BA/BS Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Materials Management or Operations preferred.
- Minimum 5-7 Plus years of proven purchasing/procurement management experience in Manufacturing or Transportation industry.
- Proven contract management and strong negotiation and analytical skills
- Proficient and experienced with Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to adapt and master Company programs relating to duties.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to multi-task wand work with a high sense of urgency with minimal supervision in a fast- paced environment.
- Extensive knowledge of bill of materials, job routing, productivity, efficiency, job costing and inventory.
- Ability to travel as needed.
