 Role Overview 
Care staff are responsible for providing a safe, healthy, and loving environment to preschool children.  Staff should agree with The Cross Church’s faith statement and be committed to the spiritual development of children in a Christian environment through the regular and ongoing programming provided by The Cross Church children’s ministry, contributing to the high-performance culture and mission to Spread God’s Fame by Making Disciples of all People.  

Job Classification 
Part-time, less than 20 hours per week.  Non-exempt. 

Responsibilities and Expectations 
·         Help each child develop a healthy perception of God and His love for them. 
·         Help each child appreciate God’s creation and recognize His hand in all things. 
·         Be prepared to execute daily lesson plans. 
·         Foster an environment where children increase in levels of independence and are nurtured socially and emotionally. 
·         Provide prompt and professional care to the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social needs of children. 
·         Be sensitive to the varied developmental levels of the children. 
·         Report any problems or concerns to the Care Coordinator. 
·         Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills 
·         Agreement with The Cross Church’s faith statement and mission to spread His fame by making disciples of all people.” 
·         Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally. 
·         Established pattern of Bible study and prayer. 
·         Membership and regular attendance of The Cross Church. 
·         The ability to listen effectively and communicate clearly, both orally and in written form. 
·         Love children and model Christ to them. 
·         Ability to encourage children’s positive behaviors and remain calm, friendly and respectful when addressing inappropriate behaviors. 
·         Pray for preschoolers and their families. 
·         Excellent interpersonal skills. 
·         Self-Motivated. 
·         Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality. 
·         Ability to work well with staff, church members, and the community. 
·         The ability to speak, read and write English.  
·         The ability to handle moderate stress levels.  
·         Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly. 
·         Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks.
