Programs for Infants and Children (PIC) is looking for an Early Special Education Teacher to join our Anchorage team. Openings in this specialized role are uncommon, making this a unique opportunity to bring your special education expertise to early intervention. You’ll work with infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities, primarily in their homes and other natural settings, helping children build skills and families support development in everyday life.
You’ll be part of a multidisciplinary team of special educators, speech-language pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, and social workers. At PIC, professionals mentor and coach one another, build their skills through paid professional development, and have the flexibility and generous paid leave to support a sustainable career.
Using a family-centered coaching model, you’ll work with families to build strategies into everyday routines and activities—bringing early special education directly into the places where children live, learn, and grow.

What You'll Do
- Assess children's developmental strengths and needs and help develop meaningful treatment goals.
- Provide early intervention and special education strategies for children birth to age three.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers so they can support their child's learning and development.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate services and problem-solve together.
- Provide services primarily in children's homes and other natural community settings.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with families while supporting their priorities and choices.

What We're Looking For
This is a professional early special education teacher position.
We are seeking candidates with:
- A Bachelor's degree in a related field AND a Professional Teaching Certificate (or Initial Certificate with a Pre-K endorsement), or a Master's degree in a related field.
- Preparation with a degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education/Special Education, or a related field.
- Experience working with infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities or delays is preferred.
- A strong interest in teaching, developmental intervention, family coaching, and collaborative practice.
